Being a
gardener in the old days meant that you had to break your back doing pretty
much everything: hoeing, planting, any maintenance job and irrigating.
Nowadays, everything has been automated and improved so that the human effort
is minimum. This is especially true about garden irrigation systems. This is an
automatic system that gets fed water through a hose from your water supply line,
and then it sprinkles it all over your garden. Over the years it has become
essential to gardeners and is now seen in almost every garden. All in all, it
ensures that your garden will stay lush and green, and you won’t have to do a
thing.
A
garden irrigation system does not have to be complicated. However you should do
a bit of planning before installing your own. First make sure you find a way to
spread your hose in a way that will ensure the most water coverage. Next you
have to decide what sprinkler heads you should get and how many. You can
arrange the system to suit your garden. You can spread the sprinkler heads out
evenly, in series or even two to four sprinklers in a straight line.
The
most popular garden irrigation system is called the rain bird type. However, if
you are looking for a system that allows you to water individual plants, the
drip irrigation device is the way to go. This is a type of irrigation system
that waters specific plants. It features pencil tip sized openings in the hose
which let down just enough water to ensure that the plants get what they need.
It also needs a good water supply, as it uses a lot of water. This system is
very good for a garden, but it is not so good for a lawn.
